Your groups
In Oblique, groups and teams represent collections of people in your organization. Both are used to grant access, so your group and team membership determines much of what you can access.
How groups work
Section titled “How groups work”There are three types of groups in Oblique:
- Attribute-based groups are populated automatically based on your user attributes, such as your department, location, or job title
- Reporting groups are populated automatically based on your manager and broader reporting hierarchy
- Teams are ad hoc groups of people working together, for example, on a project
You can’t change your membership in attribute-based or reporting groups directly: both update automatically as your user attributes or reporting hierarchy change.
Teams, on the other hand, are managed in Oblique: you can create, join, or leave a team yourself.
All three types can grant access to listings. If you belong to a group or team with access to a listing, you have indirect access to that listing.
See your groups
Section titled “See your groups”The groups and teams you belong to are listed on your profile page.
To browse every group and team in your organization, go to the Groups page.
Join a team
Section titled “Join a team”You can request to join any team. The request is sent to the team’s owners for approval. Once you’re approved, you’re added to the team and gain any access it grants.
From the team’s page:
- In the header, select Join team.
- Under User, select the user you wish to join the team group. By default, if you are creating the request, you are selected.
- Under Team, select the team group you wish to join. By default, the team group you are on is selected.
- Under Approval, review the checks needed to edit the team group’s members.
- Select Create request. Optionally, to disable auto-apply for the request, click Select and then Create request + manually apply.
Once checks pass and the request is applied, Oblique will add you as a member of the team.
Leave a team
Section titled “Leave a team”You can request to leave a team you’re a member of. Once you’re removed from the team, you lose any access you had through it.
From the team’s page:
- In the header, next to You’re a member, click More and select Leave group…. This opens a request.
- Under Members, confirm that you’re selected as Removed.
- Under Approval, review the checks needed to edit the team group’s members.
- Select Create request. Optionally, to disable auto-apply for the request, click Select and then Create request + manually apply.
Once checks pass and the request is applied, Oblique will remove you from the team.
